Q: Will the clothing shrink when I wash it?
A: No. All of our clothing is washed prior to dying and washed in hot water after dying so it is already preshrunk.
Q: Do I have to wash the clothing in cold water?
A: No. After dying, our clothing is rinsed in very hot water to remove excess dye. Then it is washed with Dharma Dye Fixative, an anti-bleeding, anti-perspiration rinse. The clothing is then dried and washed again in hot water with vinegar to further prevent bleeding when coming in contact with perspiration and precipitation.
Q: Are the dyes used dangerous?
A: Fiber Reactive Dyes have been used around the world since 1956 and are considered non-toxic to the wearer. The molecules in the dyes we use combine with the fabric to create a permanent bond. These dyes are mainly used on natural fibers and will not dye synthetics. Most clothing manufacturers use these same dyes when dying cottons.
Q: How to I wash my rayon clothing?
A: Our rayon clothing has already been through the washing machine because it is the best way to get rid of excess dye. If the clothing doesn't hold up in the wash, we won't sell it. You can wash your rayon clothing in the machine on the delicate cycle in warm or cold water. Make sure you place the clothing in a garment bag prior to washing, as rayon is more delicate that regular cotton. After washing, hang to dry. Most wrinkles will come out a few minutes after wearing the garment.
